Garry Langford has been involved in the apple & pear industry in Australia and internationally for the past 35 years. He has extensive experience in the creation, selection, management and commercialisation of new varieties in Australia and around the world.
Heading the Australian Pome Fruit Improvement Program (APFIP), and being a founding director of Prevar (the company behind commercialising the varieties behind the apple brands Dazzle®, Smitten®, Rockit® and more), Garry brings extensive expertise and knowledge to global fruit production and variety commercialisation. Keenly interested in industry across the world Garry was the first international director appointed to the International Fruit Tree Association.
One of his key projects was the continued development of the Pink Lady® brand globally, through his role as the head of IP at APAL (the owner of the Pink Lady® trade marks), and as a director of various Pink Lady® subsidiary companies, which saw continued growth of the brand to be the world’s number one branded apple product (by sales value, volume and brand recognition).
Finishing with APAL in 2017 Garry established Garry Langford Fruit Product Consulting (GLFPC) advising a number of clients on projects from commercialisation of new cultivars, importation and PBR in Australia and IP protection and enforcement in South America.
